Department of Engineering, Mathematics and Science Education

We conduct research and education in physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, industrial design engineering and didactics in mathematics and science education. We offer unique and world-leading research within the FSCN Research Centre and Sports Tech Research Centre.

The research group in Surface and Colloid Engineering at Mid Sweden University is part of the FSCN Research Centre and mainly researches the basic properties of biopolymers and cellulose materials in composites and energy conversion. For example, we study utilization of cellulose to generated static electricity that can be used to construct battery-free sensors within the Internet-of-Things area. We are now looking for a PhD student funded by the Swedish Research Council for fundamental research on the mechanisms, properties, and future applications of triboelectric cellulose.
