At the department, education is conducted in the subjects of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering and sound production. The research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and deals with sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

Job description
We offer a postdoctoral position in applied machine learning for industrial and medical applications. The position can have a focus on the areas of deep learning for audio analysis, deep learning for sound in measurements, as well as implementation of machine learning on embedded systems. The position is linked to collaborating research groups with activities in condition monitoring, sound analysis and embedded systems. The research is carried out in close collaboration with national and international partners.

The focus of the position lies within the area of deep learning for the characterization and positioning of sound. The positions may also include implementation aspects of machine learning models on embedded systems. The work can be experimental and theoretical in nature and include data collection, development and verification of models, and generalization of solutions.

Requirements and assessment
To qualify for employment as a postdoctoral fellow, you must hold a doctorate or an equivalent foreign degree in a relevant research field (read more in Mid Sweden University employment procedures). Your degree must not be older than 3 years from the end of the application period: But, for example, sick leave and/or parental leave can be deducted from the five-year period. 

For this position, you are required to have a PhD in electronics, electrical engineering, computer engineering or a related field and have previous academic experience in machine learning.

Active participation and collaboration within the research group is necessary. It is therefore important that you are a responsible person with a holistic view, that you can communicate freely both orally and in writing in English and that you are structured in your way of working.

Terms of employment
The postdoc position is for a period of 24 months, full-time.
