The Department of Science Education and Mathematics is located at Campus Sundsvall. The department conducts research and education in its specific domains.

Active research groups work on Campus Sundsvall on complex analysis as well as on mathematical physics and discrete mathematics, on Campus Östersund on homogenisation theory.

Duties: 
The duties will emphasise teaching but also include a research part which may be extended on the basis of external funding.

Duties:

  • Teaching and development of mathematics courses taught on campus and via the internet, on basic and advanced level.
  • Teaching on graduate level and supervision of doctoral students may be included.
  • Research both autonomous and in collaboration other researchers at the department. Included is work for grant applications.
  • Collaboration in the administrative and collegial work at department und university level.

Qualification requirements and assessment grounds:
A person is qualified for the announced position if he or she has completed a doctorate in mathematics or has corresponding academic qualifications, and if he or she has shown pedagogical skills.

If the applicant has not received a formal education in university teaching corresponding to at least 15 credit points or alternatively at least 10 weeks full time studies, the new-employed lecturer is obliged to acquire this qualification within two years after the first day of employment.

Beyond the above-mentioned the position requires:

  • Documented experience in mathematical teaching
  • Good language skills in Swedish and/or English both in oral and written expression.
  • Good collaboration skills.
  • The applicant’s research area contributes to the existing research activities.
  • Documented pedagogical skills.

Further assessment grounds:

  • Good language skills in Swedish both in oral and written expression, since a major part of teaching will be in Swedish.
  • Activity in application for external funding.
  • Success in obtaining external research grants in competition.
  • Experience in supervision of seminar work and/or of doctoral students.
  • Administrative or other skills relevant for the employment.
  • Teaching experience in distance teaching and e-learning

Procedure: This position will be filled in accordance with chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in accordance with Mid Sweden University Employment Procedures.

Type of employment: Full time position, unlimited, with starting date according to agreement.
