Description of the content of the doctoral studies
The doctoral programme in criminology at Stockholm University aims to provide the student with in-depth knowledge of the subject's theory, methods, current research in the field, and other skills necessary to make the student a critical and independent researcher with the ability to carry out scientific work.

Dissertation projects eligible for the current doctoral student position are chosen freely by the respective applicant, provided that they fall within the stated specialisation, and that the environment can offer appropriate supervision. For the current position, we particularly welcome criminological dissertation projects with a connection to the area of crime prevention, but other specialisations are also possible.
