Job description
The position as Associate Senior Lecturer in Visualization is a four-year employment that includes teaching and research in equal parts. After the four years and after assessment of qualifications, the university intends to permanent employ the candidate as senior lecturer, until further notice. The ambition for the Associate Senior Lecturer is to have reached the level of docent (associate professor) after four years employment. Teaching will be in Visualization, Visual Analytics, and other related courses. Contributions to other courses in Computer Science and Engineering may occur, as well as at other departments. Teaching implies development of course curricula and course material, teaching and assessing students, as well as related administrative tasks. The research involves implementing innovative theoretical and experimental scientific studies in Information Visualization and Visual Analytics, including theoretical analysis, practical experiments, algorithm design and implementation in software, and documentation in the form of scientific articles and reports. The research will be conducted at the department of Information Systems and Technology, but the applicant will also collaborate with teachers and researchers in several disciplines and departments at Mid University, as well as with governmental and industrial partners. The work also includes the formulation of research applications. The Associate Senior Lecturer is expected to contribute to the general teaching and research environment at the university.

Requirements and assessment criteria: To qualify for employment as associate senior lecturer, the applicant must have a doctorate or a corresponding foreign degree. An applicant that have completed a doctorate or has corresponding qualification no more than 5 years before the application deadline should be prioritized (for exemptions see the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, 4 chapter 4 a. In addition, the eligibility conditions and assessment criteria described in Qualifications criteria for employment as associate senior lecturer in the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media are applicable.

High-quality experience and publications are qualifying. Proven ability to work in research projects and educational experience are considered additional qualifications. Particular emphasis will be placed on a strong mathematical background and documented experience of research in Information Visualization and Visual Analytics. As associate senior lecturer, you must be able to communicate in different contexts. The research is conducted in an international environment that requires very good skills to present and discuss research results in English, both in writing and orally. However, teaching is mainly in Swedish, why good ability to communicate in Swedish is considered as merit, but not a requirement. After two years of employment, the applicant is encouraged to teach in Swedish.

Procedure: The recruitment process follows the regulations of the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, and in accordance with the appointment rules of Mid Sweden University.

Terms of employment: Four years full time. Entry according to agreement.
