At the department, education is conducted in the subjects of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering and sound production. The research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and deals with sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

Job description
We are looking for a senior lecturer in the field of AI-based measurement systems, with a particular focus on deep learning models developed for metrological challenges. The position involves both research and teaching.
You will be part of the research group AI-based IoT and measurement systems and will contribute specifically with expertise in the adaptation and optimization of deep learning models for vision-based measurement systems.
Within these areas, you are expected to

-          Conduct own research and support the strategic development of the group’s research competence.

-          Contribute to education at all levels and to continuously develop your pedagogical skills.

-          Contribute to the supervision of doctoral and master students.

-          Contribute to research grant proposals, as well as show initiative to initiate own projects.

-          Collaborate with academic and industrial partners in and beyond Sweden.  

 

Requirement
To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, your qualifications must match the requirements described in Mid Sweden University’s employment procedures and the requirements described in Rules and instructions for employment as senior lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.

To be eligible for the position, a PhD in electronics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field is required. Previous research should have focused on machine learning, deep learning, image processing and the optimization of deep learning models.

 

Assessment 
As much attention is given to evaluating educational aptitude as to academic aptitude.
Your knowledge within the previously described areas is evaluated based on your merits, including your dissertation topic and publication record in relevant journals and conferences. The relevance of your research area, as well as its quality and quantity will be taken into consideration. It is beneficial but not necessary if you have previous experience from university teaching and if you started or completed a course on university pedagogics.

 

Personal qualities
In addition to your technical and scientific competences, your ability to work in academia will be taken into consideration based on your ability to work in a team, work individually, and to communicate clearly. 


Other assessment criteria 
The employment requires that you can communicate clearly in English, orally as well as in writing. The ability to communicate in Swedish is beneficial, but not necessary.  

 

Employment process
Processing of the appointment will comply with the provisions in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, and will be carried out in accordance with Mid Sweden University’s Employment Procedures.

 

Terms of employment
Permanent employment consisting of 100 per cent of full-time employment, start date to be determined by mutual agreement.
