Job description
The project focuses on water purification, specifically studying flocculation and the separation of particulate contaminants using bio-based polymers. Initially, the emphasis will be on synthesis and modification of bio-based polymers to enhance separation efficiency and minimize carbon footprints. The project is part of the Mission 0 House initiative with 50% of the working hours spent at the Mission 0 House facilities in Gothenburg.
Requirement
To be eligible for a post-doctoral appointment, your qualifications must match the requirements described in Mid Sweden University’s employment procedures. You must have a PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering with a suitable profile.
Assessment
The successful candidate must have strong theoretical and practical knowledge in surface and colloid chemistry. Emphasis is placed on practical expertise in the chemical and physical characterization of polymers, as well as measurement techniques such as laser diffraction, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential measurements, FTIR-ATR, NMR, rheology, tensiometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, and scanning electron and optical microscopy. Applicants should have a solid knowledge of polyelectrolytes and cellulose modification, a strong understanding of flocculation mechanisms, and documented experience with flocculation measurements.

You are a responsible individual who can deliver within set timeframes. Strong teamwork, flexibility, social competence, and communication skills are essential personal qualities for this role.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time position (100%) for 2 years from February 1, 2025 or as agreed. Terms and conditions of employment are set out in the Fixed-term employment contract for post-doctoral appointments.
