The department is located on both Campus Östersund and Campus Sundsvall, where we educate and conduct research within the department's subjects with a focus on sustainable development.
The EcoChemistry research group conducts much of its research within the projects CirBio3.0, Char-CC, CirkFerm, and Fiber2Comp. Information about the research group and projects can be found via the link: https://www.miun.se/Forskning/forskargrupper/ekokemi/.
Tasks
The EcoChemistry group is seeking a postdoctoral researcher primarily to work on the research project CirBio3.0. The work mainly involves developing and utilizing analytical methods for proteins, amino acids, nutrients, sugars, toxins, etc., in materials such as biomass from fermentation, by-products from the brewing industry, the paper and pulp industry, as well as new products in the food and feed sectors. Live microorganisms will be handled within the project, which means sterile work is included. Teaching or other departmental work, up to 20% of the position, may be part of the duties.

The applicant should have practical experience in analyzing and quantifying organic molecules using techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS, and IC. Experience in method development in chromatography, isolation, derivatization, and chemical analysis of small quantities is highly desirable. Expertise in handling and maintaining relevant analytical equipment is also an advantage, as are skills in amino acid analysis and food chemistry.
It is meritourious if you have experience in sterile work and knowledge in areas such as food science, microbiology, fermentation, and the cultivation of fungi, algae, bacteria, or yeast. Experience in analyzing and quantifying proteins, amino acids, and fatty acids is also valuable. Knowledge of Swedish legislation in the food and feed sectors and industrial experience in relevant project areas is beneficial.
To successfully interpret and evaluate results from analytical work, you should have good knowledge of statistical methods used in the field of research.
