At the department, education is conducted in the subjects of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering and sound production. The research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and deals with sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
Work description and tasks
We are excited to offer a Research Engineer position focusing on co-designing communication and control for 6G networks. In this role, you will actively contribute to shaping the future of wireless communication technologies, engaging in cutting-edge applied research and testbed activities while leading independent projects. Your key responsibilities will include developing and optimizing wireless communication systems, programming for embedded systems, and utilizing simulation tools to model complex systems. You will work closely with industrial partners, contributing to collaborative research efforts and presenting your findings to both internal teams and external stakeholders. Hands-on experience with ORAN or similar frameworks is highly desirable, as you will be expected to implement and optimize communication protocols and control algorithms.

Background
Candidates must hold a BSc (preferably MSc) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields or possess equivalent knowledge.
The ideal candidate should have strong wireless communication and embedded systems expertise, with hands-on experience in Python and C++ for wireless system design and control. A collaborative approach to co-designing communication, computation, and control systems is essential, along with experience in ORAN, OpenAirInterface, USRP, and edge computing. Excellent communication skills in English are required, while experience in real-time systems, embedded software, wireless programming, machine learning, and contributing to scientific publications or larger software projects will be valuable assets. Other assessment criteria include published scientific articles, larger software projects, and other activities relevant to the position.
