The department is located on both Campus Östersund and Campus Sundsvall, where we educate and conduct research within the department's subjects with a focus on sustainable development.
Tasks
The EcoChemistry Group is seeking a motivated researcher to contribute to the research projects Fiber2Comp and Char-CC. The projects aim to improve co-composting techniques to remediate heavily polluted sediments and integrate biochar for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. The final goal is to transform organic wastes into valuable resources while contributing to climate change mitigation and pollution fight actions.
The candidate will focus on optimizing operational factors for organic waste composting trials developed in laboratory scale and pilot scale, with the integration of biochar in the process.
Eligibility
The person who is to be employed as a researcher must be eligible according to the requirements described in Mittuniversitet's employment regulations.
Applicants with a PhD degree in environmental engineering, agronomy, biology, agroecology, and other related disciplines are welcomed.
A solid academic background and practical experience in composting and transformation processes of organic wastes are required.
Assessment grounds
Knowledge in chemical, physical and biological indicators and variables of composting/organic waste transformation processes; Expertise in sample handling and data management for composting experiments design and execution, including respirometry tests. Experience in the measurement of greenhouse gas fluxes. Ability to design and operate bench-scale composting bioreactors. Ability for independent data analyses and manuscript writing. Track record of subject-related primary contributions to peer-reviewed publications.
