Mid Sweden University, Department of Natural Sciences

The Department of Natural Sciences (NAT) is based at Campus Sundsvall, where we educate and conduct research in the subjects of biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, technical design and engineering physics.

The FSCN research center forms a strong research environment in materials and process technology. We work multidisciplinary and develop knowledge and technology that primarily enables resource-efficient processes, new or improved functionality of bio-based materials, and energy materials. Through close collaboration with companies, we stay updated on market needs and support the development of knowledge in the industry.

The research group in materials physics mainly researches nanomaterials for energy storage and energy conversion. For example, we develop methods for large-scale production of graphene for supercapacitors and batteries and nanomaterials for triboelectric nanogenerators. We are now looking for a doctoral student for research in energy materials.
