Associate Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering with focus on Information Visualization.

Job description
The Department of Information Systems and Technology is looking for an Associate Senior Lecturer (tenured first academic position) with expertise in visualization, especially information visualization and visual analysis. The position includes both teaching and research in approximately equal parts. After the four years, the university intends to employ the candidate as a Senior Lecturer. Teaching will in visualization, computer graphics and related courses, as well as related administrative tasks. The research involves conducting innovative theoretical and experimental scientific studies in information visualization and visual analysis, and it includes theoretical analysis, practical experiments, algorithm design and implementation in software as well as documentation in the form of scientific articles and reports. The research will be carried out in the research group Realistic 3D, but the candidate will collaborate with teachers and researchers in several disciplines and departments at Mid Sweden University, as well as with authorities and industrial partners. The work also includes the formulation of research applications.

Requirements
To qualify for employment as an associate senior lecturer, the applicant must have a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence. An applicant that have completed a doctorate, or have reached the corresponding competence, normally at most 5 years before the application deadline, should be prioritized. Furthermore, the eligibility requirements and assessment criteria described in Mid Sweden University's Employment Regulations (Mid Sweden University's Employment Regulations) apply, as well as established Instructions for employment as an assistant professor (Instructions for employment as an assistant professor) at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.

High-quality contributions and publications in the field are meritorious. Proven ability to work in research projects and pedagogical experience is also an advantage. Particular emphasis will be on a strong mathematical background and documented experience of research in Information Visualization and Visual Analytics. As an associate senior lecturer, you must be able to communicate in different contexts. Research is carried out in an international environment that requires very good skills to present and discuss research results in English, both in writing and orally. However, the teaching is mainly in Swedish. Good ability to communicate in Swedish is therefore an advantage, but not a requirement. After two years of employment, the applicant is encouraged to teach in Swedish. Abilities to initiate, develop and conduct research and teaching, as well as collaborate in groups are meritorious.

Promotion to Senior Lecturer: An associate senior lecturer has the right to be tried for promotion to a position as a Senior Lecturer. The application for promotion must be submitted no later than six months before the employment as associate senior lecturer ends. A basic requirement for promotion is that the applicant must achieve the requirements to be employed as a Senior Lecturer in accordance with Mid Sweden University's Employment Regulations, and in accordance with the Faculty's instructions for employment as a Senior Lecturer. In particular, the promotion to Senior Lecturer requires a maintained high publishing rate and the completion of a pedagogical education of 15 credits for higher education, or at least 10 weeks of full-time studies.

Procedure: The recruitment process follows the regulations of the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, and the employment procedures applicable to Mid Sweden University.

Terms of employment: Four years full time. Entry according to agreement.
