The Department of Electronics Design is situated at Campus Sundsvall. In addition to its research activities, it offers courses and programmes in the subjects Electronics, Electrical engineering and Sound production. The research of the department is conducted at the research centre STC (Sensible Things that Communicate, www.miun.se/stc).

Position description
The STC research centre announces a researcher position in Sound characterization systems, working on characterization on heart sounds with novel sensor arrays. The research project gives you the opportunity to work together in a research group with international collaborations. Challenges that the position can have a focus on include machine learning optimization of characterization models and adaptations to embedded systems used for stand-alone heart diagnostics. In the researcher position, you will work to develop characterization models and optimize and characterize prototype systems for the application.

Required qualifications and selection criteria
To qualify for an employment as a researcher, the applicant must hold a PhD degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a PhD. For this position, it is required to have a PhD in electronics, electrical engineering or computer science with a specialization in analysis or enhancement of recorded sound with microphone arrays. Skills in signal processing, machine learning, microphone arrays and sound characterization are required. Experience in heart sound characterization is meriting.

Employment and start date: Full time employment, 6 months. According to agreement.
