The Department of Electronics Design is situated at Campus Sundsvall. In addition to its research activities, it offers courses and programmes in the subjects Electronics, Electrical engineering and Sound production. The research of the department is conducted at the research centre STC (Sensible Things that Communicate, www.miun.se/stc).

Position description
We offer you a postdoctoral position in an international active research group working in the area of radiation sensor systems. The research conducted by this group is internationally recognized and performed in collaboration with the Medipix consortium hosted by the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN. This will give you access to the latest equipment and unique facilities. In addition, Mid Sweden University houses an X-ray lab equipped with a microfocus source and a state-of-the-art X-ray spectral imaging sensor as well as a cleanroom capable of processing tailored X-ray detectors.

The MiLo project includes the challenge of developing measurement and analysis techniques for heavy metals in a marine environment, as well as development of XRF/CT imaging techniques for material composition studies. Your research work will focus on development of detectors, systems and applications for X-ray spectroscopy and spectroscopic X-ray imaging. Supervision of PhD and master students connected to the research group will be included in your duties, as well as active contribution to funding applications within the environmental measurements field.

Required qualifications and selection criteria
To qualify for the position of postdoc you must hold a PhD degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a PhD. Relevant subject areas for this position are electronics, electrical engineering or physics with a specialization in radiation based measurements. Skills in XRF methodology for environmental measurements is required. The position will requires familiarity with how to apply for, and then perform ones measurement at international synchrotron facilities.

The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application due date; however, for example, periods of sick leave or parental leave can be deducted from the three-year period.

Active participation and collaboration within the research group is required. It is therefore important that you are a responsible person with holistic views, have good ability to collaborate within a group, have good skills in both written and oral English and have structured way of working.

Employment and start date: Full time employment, 6 months. Start date 2021-01-01.
