The department conducts research and education in the subjects: business administration, law, economics, statistics, geography and tourism studies.

Business administration is one of the largest subject areas at Mid Sweden University with staff located in Sundsvall as well as Östersund. The discipline offers degrees at the Bachelor and Master’s levels, as well as delivers courses that are commissioned by third parties (commissioned education).. The discipline’s research in Sundsvall has a special link with the Centre for research on Economic Relations (CER). This work focuses on the banking sector, insurance, pensions, real estate, accounting and strategic networks. Research in Östersund primarily focuses on entrepreneurship, business development and tourism. We are looking to add personnel in Sundsvall as well as Östersund, so the location is negotiable.

Work assignments: Teaching and examining campus as well as on-line courses, with a concentration in finance (Bachelor and Master’s level), as well as supervising theses. Teaching is mainly done in Swedish. Instruction is also given in English, and participation in commissioned education may be needed. Administrative tasks will also be required. The successful candidate for this position is also expected to carry out pedagogical development and participate in other development work at the department. There are opportunities for skill development within the scope of the position, in accordance with current collective agreements and local guidelines. During the two first years, at least 25 percent of the position consists of research activities. The work requires a certain amount of travel between campuses.

Qualifications: Those eligible to work as a university lecturer will have completed a doctorate in business administration with a concentration in finance or possess the equivalent research competence. Examples may include having completed a doctorate in a related subject or a foreign degree.  The successful applicant must also have completed a course in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired the equivalent skills in some other way and been able to demonstrate pedagogical aptitude (The Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 4, employment procedures).

An individual who will be employed as a university lecturer must be otherwise qualified in accordance with the requirements described in the rules and instructions of the Faculty of Humanities.

The applicant must be able to perform administrative and instructional tasks that require an understanding of and ability to use the Swedish and/or English language(s).

Assessment criteria: In making the appointment, equal importance will be placed on research skills and pedagogical aptitude. Emphasis will be placed on qualifications received within the fields of study stated in the speciality of the position. Research and/or teaching skills within finance and related subtopics, such as financial and management control and accounting, are particularly valued. Experience with distance learning, commissioned education and other relevant professional activities would be an advantage. The applicant must be able to cooperate well, as well as possessing the applicable skills and qualities that are otherwise needed in order to fulfil the work assignments well. Additionally, administrative skills are taken into consideration. Experience and an interest in local and global collaboration are also advantageous.
