The Department of Information Systems and Techonology is situated at Campus Sundsvall. Its activities include research in the field of Computer and System science, mainly in the fields of the subjects Computer engineering and Industrial organization and economy.

Duties:
The position covers postgraduate study with innovative theoretical and experimental research in the field of Image Analysis (Computer Engineering) based on multimodal and multidimensional data. The work involves theoretical analysis, practical experiments, algorithm design and implementation in software, as well as documentation in the form of scientific articles and reports. The applicant will collaborate with researchers and industrial partners in the project.

This research is a part of Mid Sweden University’s profiled research in industrial IT and digital services and will be carried out in cooperation with other researchers in the Realistic 3D research group, which is part of STC Research Centre. Eligibility and assessment criteria:
For eligibility to apply a second cycle degree (master level) or at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are at second cycle level, is required. In addition, the applicant must have at least 90 credits in the relevant research subject or equivalent knowledge. A good understanding of English in speech and writing is a requirement. Engineering or a master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or applied physics is a suitable background for the position.

In addition to formal qualifications, selection is also based on other work (e.g. thesis) and second cycle level courses, as well as interviews and other information. In addition to good subject knowledge, great importance is placed on creative thinking, motivation, interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as personal suitability for research training. Previous experience of image analysis, multi-view geometry, computer vision, image and video processing and applied mathematics is an advantage. The ability to use software such as Matlab or C++ is a requirement.

Employment and starting date:
The position consists entirely of postgraduate studies for a maximum of 2 years and is expected to lead to a licentiate degree. On condition that additional funding is obtained, the employment may be extended to a PhD. Evaluation of progression takes place annually and provides the basis for continued studies. Salary: Salary is determined in accordance with Mid Sweden University scale for PhD students.
