The Department is located at Campus Östersund. We conduct research and education within Social Work and the main fields of Psychology, such as cognitive psychology, social psychology, psychology of learning, developmental psychology, and clinical psychology.

Job description: Overall responsibility for research and teaching at the third-cycle level in the field, as well as for its development, particularly within the clinical research domain and with an emphasis on behavioural medicine/health psychology. Teaching and supervising at all levels, specifically on clinical courses. The job also includes your own research, planning (including applications for research funds) and management of as well as participation in research projects. Administrative tasks, including management roles at the department and other levels at Mid Sweden University, may also be included.

Mid Sweden University welcomes applications from prominent researchers and teachers with qualifications in several of the branches of psychology. We welcome applicants who are licensed psychologists or have an equivalent international qualification.

Qualifications and basis of assessment: An applicant who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogic skills is qualified for employment as professor (Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance). The successful applicant must have demonstrated scientific skill in independent research and by pursuing academic activities of a high international standard. The applicant must have demonstrated skill in planning, initiating, leading and developing research, must have demonstrated an ability to obtain research funding in competition with others, and must present well documented skills in acting as supervisor at the third-cycle level.

Pedagogic skills must have been demonstrated through qualifications in education and teaching. Additionally, the applicant must present well documented skills in supervising at the first, second and third-cycle levels. The ability to teach in Swedish and English is a requirement. If the applicant lacks the ability to teach in Swedish, s/he will be expected to have gained that ability within two years. A person taking up the position of professor must furthermore be qualified as specified in Mid Sweden University’s appointments procedure (miun.se/anstallningsordning) and administrative procedures (miun.se/huv/handlaggningsordningar).

Employment: Full-time, open-ended employment contract.

Procedure: The assessment, selection and employment process will follow the principles laid down in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and proceed in accordance with Mid Sweden University’s appointments procedure.
