Professor of Environmental Science, specialization in social science - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Duties: The research and teaching is interdisciplinary with a focus on problem-solving and operationalization of environmental objectives. Emphasis is on sustainable use of natural resources.

This position involves collaborating with other researchers and teachers to lead and develop the department’s research and teaching in social control measures for a sustainable society. In addition, the position involves developing the teaching and research in ’governance for the Anthropocene’. As a professor, you are expected to contribute to get research funding. The position also includes development of courses and study programmes, teaching and supervision at undergraduate and graduate level. 

Eligibility and assessment of candidate qualifications:

A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise, as to the assessment of research. (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4). In the assessment, research expertise will be of particular importance. In addition, the applicant must satisfy the requirements according to University guidelines, as well as established quality criteria for the appointment of professors at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.

The following qualifications will be especially important in the selection of eligible applicants:

• experience in sustainability research in governance for the Anthropocene, i.e. good knowledge about e.g. societal steering instruments such as EIA, environmental law and ecological economics
• experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research at university level in the environmental field
• excellent skills in English, in speech and writing
• ability to cooperate

The following qualifications will also be taken into consideration:

• professional experience in the field
• an interdisciplinary approach

Procedure: The recruitment process follows the regulations of the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, and in accordance with the appointment rules of Mid Sweden University.

Employment and commencement: Full-time, permanent position. Commencement by agreement.
