The Dept of Ecotechnology and Sustainable Building Engineering

The Department of Ecotechnology and Sustainable Building Engineering is located at Campus Östersund. The department conducts research and education in the following subjects:
Ecotechnology and Environmental Science within postgraduate education, as well as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering and Building Engineering within undergraduate education.

Duties: The research and teaching is interdisciplinary with a focus on problem-solving and practical application of sustainable development. Emphasis is on sustainable use of natural resources and rural development.  

This position involves collaborating with other researchers and teachers, to lead and develop the department’s research and teaching in ’integrated environmental assessment’. This means to work on improving teaching and research on assessment methods for sustainability, focusing on LCA and circular economy. As a professor, you are expected to contribute to get research funding. The position also includes development of courses and study programmes, teaching and supervision at undergraduate and graduate level.  

Eligibility and assessment of candidate qualifications:

A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise, as to the assessment of research. (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4). In the assessment, research expertise will be of particular importance. In addition, the applicant must satisfy the requirements according to university guidelines, as well as established quality criteria for the appointment of professors at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.  

The following qualifications will be especially important in the selection of eligible applicants:

  • Degree of Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent
  • experience in sustainability research in ’integrated environmental assessment’, LCA, and circular economy
  • experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research at university level in the environmental field
  • excellent skills in English, in speech and writing
  • ability to cooperate 

The following qualifications will also be taken into consideration:

  • professional experience in the field
  • an interdisciplinary approach

Procedure: The recruitment process follows the regulations of the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, and in accordance with the appointment rules of Mid Sweden University.

Employment and commencement: Full-time, permanent position. Commencement by agreement. 

Location: Östersund 

Salary: Individual wage setting
